What is MFA?
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), sometimes referred to as 2 Factor Authentication (2FA), is a security measure that requires users to provide multiple forms of identity verification in order to gain access to their account. MFA is used commonly to keep companies’ cloud account secure and to prevent brute force hackers.
MFA requires that a user validates their identity with another medium, such as their personal cell phone, in addition to providing the correct username and password.
The Stratus Web Portal is capable of implementing MFA via the Google Authenticator App. This app is available for both iOS and Android devices.
iOS App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-authenticator/id388497605
Android Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en_US&gl=US
User Set Up for MFA
Once a Technical Support Agent has enabled MFA on your account, each user will need to log in and activate it for themselves. SpectrumVoIP Can enable MFA, but it cannot force any user to use the feature. For most users, this setting can be found by clicking their user name in the top right hand corner and clicking Profile.
Under the Users' profile settings, you simply need to click the "Set Up Google Authenticator" button.
After clicking the button, a QR Code will be generated. This code will need to be scanned from within the Google Authenticator App.
From within the Google Authenticator App, tap on the plus button.
Then tap Scan A QR Code and Scan the QR Code from the Stratus Web Portal.
You should now have SpectrumVoIP listed in your Google Authenticator App. The Code listed will be used to make sure you are the one intending on logging in to your Stratus account and will refresh about every 60 seconds to keep your account secure.
To complete the set up, you will need to enter in the current passcode you see on your Google Authenticator App in the 'Passcode' Field. You will also need to enter in your current Stratus Portal password in the 'Current Password' field, since we are updating the security informaiton on your account.
Click 'Save' at the bottom to save your changes!
